Jefferson Mays brings his characteristic precision to this sprawling cast, voicing soldiers, politicians, and morally compromised characters with distinct authority. His measured pacing suits the novel's gradual escalation from tense diplomacy to existential crisis, and his command of Holden's weary idealism anchors the narrative through its most disorienting stretches. At nearly nineteen hours, the runtime earns its length, and Mays holds attention throughout, making this one of the stronger entries in the series to experience in audio form.
