Getting Lucky Number Seven follows Lyla Wilder, a college chemistry student who has spent years prioritizing her studies over any semblance of a social life. Determined to finally embrace the full college experience, she drafts a bucket list designed to push her out of her comfort zone, with the most daring item involving a night of no-strings intimacy. She turns to her best friend Beck Davenport, a hockey player with plenty of experience in casual encounters, to help her navigate this unfamiliar territory. What starts as a straightforward arrangement grows complicated as the lines between friendship and something deeper begin to blur.

The dual narration by Andi Arndt and Cooper North is a natural fit for this friends-to-lovers story, with each narrator giving their character a distinct voice that makes the shifting dynamic feel genuine. Arndt captures Lyla's wry self-awareness with warmth, while North brings an easy confidence to Beck that masks the vulnerability underneath.
