A man named Steve wakes in an empty field with no memory, no identity, and no understanding of how he got there. His only clues are a collection of farm tools, bags of seeds, and cryptic messages that materialize in floating windows before his eyes, apparently written by a past version of himself who already failed at something he can no longer recall. As the surrounding world slides into violent disorder, Steve must survive attacks from the undead, desperate bandits, and a hostile wilderness while racing to understand what he once knew and what he must now do differently.

Andrea Parsneau narrates with dry, grounded wit that perfectly suits Steve's perpetually confused but stubbornly pragmatic voice. She handles the tonal balance between dark survival stakes and deadpan humor with ease, giving the story an engaging rhythm across its 13-plus hour runtime. The audio format works especially well here, with Parsneau's delivery making the mystery of Steve's fragmented past feel immediate and genuinely suspenseful rather than abstract.
