Revved to the Maxx

Maxx Reynolds runs a restoration shop that fixes classic cars but can't seem to fix the chaos of his own life. When he posts a job listing expecting a male hire, he gets Charlynn instead: sharp, unconventional, and fully capable of outworking him at every turn. Set in the world of grease-stained garages and rebuilt engines, Moreland's series opener follows two stubborn people who find that proximity and irritation have a way of blurring into something harder to ignore.

Dual narrators John Lane and Maxine Mitchell make the push-pull dynamic between Maxx and Charlynn feel genuinely alive. Lane captures Maxx's gruff resistance with a deadpan credibility, while Mitchell brings Charlynn's wit and warmth without tipping into caricature. The interplay between the two performances gives the story a rhythm that reads more like a conversation than a book, and at just over eight hours the pacing stays tight throughout. A strong entry point for Moreland's work.
