The eight- cast turns Dracula's epistolary format into something closer to testimony — Alan Cumming, Tim Curry, Katherine Kellgren, and the others don't just read diary entries and letters, they inhabit the fraying nerves behind each one, each voice calibrated to a different register of Victorian unease. Fifteen hours is exactly the right length for Stoker's dread to accumulate rather than spike; the horror never announces itself, it just quietly fills the room. The recommendations here tend to share that same unhurried darkness — most run a comparable length, Cumming narrates the majority of them, and several return to Stoker's own writing directly, extending the atmosphere rather than just approximating it.
