Dick Hill's narration handles the multiple plot threads with clean clarity, keeping the tonal distinction between the cases — one purely procedural, one financial, one deeply personal — without letting the transitions become jarring. His McBain has always been efficient, and in a novel this structurally layered, efficiency is a virtue. At just over 12 hours, Ice is one of the more ambitious entries in a long and ambitious series.
